First, you need to get a WEB PAGE editor or someone who can design your web page. Once you have a web page designed then you can put it online. Save your first web page as index.htm and follow the next few steps.

Start up FTP and connect to WestNet using your user name and password..
Make a new directory on the Westlock Internet Server by clicking MkDir and call it www.

To make your new directory read accessible to the rest of the world, you need to change the permission of the directory you just created. Click once on the www directory, then click the right mouse button while pointing on the www directory. Select FTP Commands and then click on SITE. Now type: chmod 711 www and click ok.

Any files you upload to the www directory will need to have the permission on them changed as well. Once you have uploaded your index.htm file to the www directory, click once on the file, then click the right mouse button while pointing on the index.htm file. Select FTP commands and then click on SITE. Now type: chmod 744 index.htm and click ok.

The addresss or URL to your personal web page will be http://west-teq.net/~username
So if your user name is johnd, your URL would be http://west-teq.net/~johnd
